The Coffee Hound Coffee Houses were begun by Greg and Beth Aronson. Both Greg and Beth grew up in the Quad Cities and attended Pleasant Valley High School. During college on the West Coast, the couple developed a taste for quality coffee beverages.

The Aronsons opened the first Coffee Hound at 2642 Brady Street in Davenport, Iowa. The Bettendorf store followed, originally located on Middle Road, and moving to the Devil's Glen location in 2005. The East Moline store opened in 2003, and was purchased by store manager Jenna Bellini in 2007.
